Manufacturing Facilities

We have two separate manufacturing facilities, located in Plymouth and Leicester, where we can provide state-of-the-art manufacturing of your premium brand and private label snacks.


Plymouth is where Burts Snacks was born, and our manufacturing facilities here are at the cutting edge of food and snack production technology. The Plymouth factory specialises in batch-cook frying (hand cooked) and Flash Fried crisps and snacks.

Our state-of-the-art batch-cook frying facilities and recent investment in our Flash Fried capacity has resulted in our current production rising to over 2,000, pallets every week – adding up to over 3,000,000 packs a week. To produce this volume takes more than 500 tonnes of potatoes, which are supplied by over 15 HGV deliveries of potatoes each week.

Our production lines in Plymouth can deliver a variety of pack sizes to suit each customer’s individual needs, varying from 12g up to 450g packs. As you would expect, these all come in a huge variety of flavours, all with the same premium quality Burts Snacks are renowned for.

We’ve received high-calibre awards from our customers and the industry, including recognition from the British Retail Consortium (BRC) and global standards for food safety.




In 2018, as part of our growth, acquisition and expansion strategy, we purchased the Savoury & Sweet manufacturing facility in Leicester, which provided Burts Snacks with a high-volume second UK manufacturing facility. This Leicester facility was built in 2016 and specialises in popcorn, compression popped snacks, and nut inclusion, whilst also providing the capability to house an extrusion line and expand the nut handling capability offering within the current footprint.

Our Leicester facility now has a state-of-the-art batch-cook frying chip capability and combined with our popped production, we generate over 2,200 pallets of finished goods every week – equalling over 2,000,000 individual packs. Our Leicester facility also gives us the capability to pack a wide range of sizes from 7g to 450g as well as multipack formats.

To keep us in step with changing consumer needs, the facility includes an accredited onsite allergen facility. This includes a popping floor and nut facility, with their own segregated staff. It also features its own segregated staff facilities meeting all accreditation standards.


Our 30,000 ft warehouse has been installed with the latest energy-efficient light system and the whole site will be using this by the end of 2019.
