Production Operatives
Full Time, LOCATION: plymouth

 

Production Operator roles are available on our day and night shifts as our business is growing!

As a Production Operative you will operate the plant in accordance with stated procedure and ensure that production plans are met and to carry out tasks in the Factory as required. To ensure that all aspects of the stated operations agenda are met with regard to Profit, Quality, Risk, Supply and Team development.

The work takes place in a factory on a production line and involves manual work. Post-holders spend considerable periods of time standing while operating machinery and are required to wear protective clothing, such as overalls and safety shoes, which are provided.

Previous experience in a production and/or warehouse environment is essential and familiarity with food production is desirable however training will be provided.

Full Time, 39 hours per week

Hours of Work:     

3 x 12 hours shift per week + one Sunday clean (12 hours) every fourth week

Unsocial Hours        

A premium is paid to those Operators working nights

Hygiene Operative
Full Time, LOCATION: plymouth

Hours of work: Full Time 40 hours per week. Monday to Friday, 14:00-22:00 with a paid break of 30 minutes per 8 hour shift.

Reporting to: Group Technical Manager

 

Job description: As a manufacture of snacks and hand-cooked crisps, hygiene and cleanliness is of critical importance at Burts Snacks.  This Hygiene Operative role would clean the factory areas and peripheral areas in accordance with the cleaning schedule.

 

The areas to be covered include the Frying Hall, Packing Halls, Seasoning Gantry Peripheral Areas, Male and Female changing areas, staff canteen, Corridors, Locker Rooms, Main Staff Entrance and Stairways.

 

Due to the specialist nature of this cleaning role we are looking for someone with industrial cleaning experience preferably in a Food Manufacturing Environment.

 

Key Main Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Cleaning and mopping floors of factory, entrance, stairs and corridors
  • Emptying of bins cleaning external skip area and potato plant.
  • Mopping floors in toilets & changing rooms
  • Clean sinks in toilets
  • Cleaning toilets and urinals
  • Mopping of canteen floors
  • Cleaning of tables, chairs, work surfaces, cupboards and microwaves in canteen
  • Cleaning of stairs in canteen
  • Factory Cleaning walls /doors in corridors in accordance with the cleaning schedule
  • Replenishing consumables – hairnets, gloves and ear plugs.
  • Replenish cleaning 20KG chemical drums at the factory cleaning stations and dishwashers.

 

IPAF Push Along Vertical (PAV) training will be delivered, if the successful applicant doesn’t have a current licence. Chemical Awareness Training will also be provided.

NPD Technologist
LOCATION: plymouth

Hours of Work: 40 hours Monday-Friday (30 min paid break)

Located at Plymouth with some travel requirements to our Leicester site and customer visits.

Reporting to: NPD MANAGER

 

Job Description: We are looking for an experienced NPD technologist to work innovatively with our internal commercial teams, suppliers and external customers to create exciting new products and ensure we offer the best possible product range to our customers.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree level or equivalent in a food related subject desirable
  • 1+ years’ experience Experience in a brand led New Product Development role is desirable.
  • Experience working with the key retailers would be desirable as would experience working on ambient products

 

Knowledge and skills

  • Extensive food development experience and a real ‘foodie’ at heart
  • Understanding of NPD process in a manufacturing environment
  • Energetic Personality
  • Good attention to detail
  • Creative and strong understanding of brand and the importance of NPD in brand growth/ development

HR & Business Administrator (Maternity Cover)
Part Time , LOCATION: leicester

Hours: Part time – 3 days a week (Flexible)  8:30 – 17:30 with one hour unpaid lunch break

Reporting to: HR Manager (Leicester)

Job Description:

We are looking for an energetic and passionate individual to join our Leicester HR team.

The post holder will be responsible for providing effective HR administration services and office organisation and supporting the HR manager. This is a fast-paced environment and so you should have a high level of organisation and time management skills and be a people person at heart.

Key responsibilities include keeping HR personnel databases and files up to date, provide support with payroll as well as monitoring and reporting on key workplace changes such as attendance and sickness. You will also be involved in scheduling appointments and events, participating in meetings and taking minutes and acting as a personal assistant to the Leicester leadership team.

A good level of formal education including GCSE Maths and English and an excellent level of computer knowledge (Microsoft Office), written and oral communication skills and excellent people skills are required.

Knowledge of employment law, policies and procedures is desirable but not essential.

Quality Assurance Technician (Maternity Cover)
Full Time, LOCATION: leicester

Hours of work: Full Time 48 hours per week (4 days on 4 days off continental shifts, 06:00 – 18:00)

Reporting to: Quality Manager

Job description: You will be working as a member of the shift team to carrying out activities which maintain compliance and assisting with corrective action. Through this role you will support the shift team in achieving departmental objective and performance targets, following SOP’s, manuals, core procedures and other defined standards.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Integrate with the shift ensuring employees understand and adhere to best practice
  • Conduct your shift handover at the start and end of each shift in line with the handover standards
  • Competently liaise with customers and auditors
  • Conduct various analyses against defined parameters and reporting out of specification promptly
  • Maintaining traceability at all times
  • Policing the line paperwork to ensure adherence and completion real time
  • Positively releasing the line back to production using defined swabbing schemes
  • Auditing against the defined schedule (glass/hard plastic, bait box, GMP)
  • Knowledge and adherence to customer specific QAS
  • Communicate any issues promptly to the Shift Management
  • Liaise with customers regarding quality control visits
  • Take positive corrective action if product is not meeting specification, including root cause analysis to prevent re-occurrence
  • Report any repeat issues that should not be there to Shift Management
  • Ensure that you know your Food Safety and Health and Safety responsibilities
  • Ensure all PPE is worn correctly at all times
  • Ensure all equipment is cleaned in line with relevant CIC / SOP and QA Lab is kept clean at all times

Qualifications and experience:

Literacy/Numeracy to National Standard Level 2 and general IT Skills (Word / Excel / Internal Systems) are essential. Qualifications in Level 2 Food Hygiene, Level 2 HACCP, Train the Trainer Training and Fire / Safety Training are desirable.

Previous experience in a Quality Assurance role is desirable.

Consumer Senior Brand Manager
Full Time, LOCATION: plymouth

Hours: Full Time 40hrs per week

Reporting to: Head of Marketing & Innovation

The Role:

Lead the development, commercial planning and execution of Burts Brand Marketing Plan – including PR, Digital  and NPD/EPD/Packaging.  Working with the Head of Marketing and Innovation to deliver the annual brand plans to support our aim to grow the Burts Brand rapidly. Lead the commercial execution of NPD & Packaging changes, working with finance to develop P&L, working with Innovations team and Project Manager  to develop product and launch on time.

Review and evaluate market and brand performance, gathering learning, insights and making recommendations for improvements where required.
